The San Diego LGBT Community Center

A cornerstone of the LGBTQ+ community in San Diego, The San Diego LGBT Community Center in Hillcrest is a haven for individuals seeking support, education, and empowerment. The Center offers a variety of wellness programs, including mental health counseling, support groups, substance abuse recovery programs, and HIV testing. Additionally, they provide legal services, employment assistance, and resources for youth, seniors, and transgender individuals, creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

LGBT-affirming Healthcare Providers

San Diego Youth Services offers support and shelter for transgender and gender-nonconforming youth, ensuring their safety and well-being. 

TransFamily Support Services guides transgender/non-binary youth and their families through the gender transitioning process by providing family coaching, assistance with healthcare and insurance issues, help navigating the legal system, and support at schools. All services are provided at no fee.

The Trevor Project, a national organization, also offers a 24/7 helpline specifically for LGBTQ+ youth in crisis, providing a lifeline for those who need immediate support.

LGBTQIA+ Survivor Support

It is unfortunate and common for the members of the LGBTQIA+ community to experience a lack of services and care for survivors that are not cisgender, heterosexual women. This group of organizations is committed to helping to bridge the gaps in services and barriers to care faced by LGBTQIA+ survivors of sexual and relationship violence.

  • The LGBTQIA Survivor Task Force, a program under San Diego Pride, is a unique collaborative effort of community organizations in San Diego.
  • Center for Community Solutions, is a San Diego-based nonprofit organization dedicated to ending relationship and sexual violence. Since 1969, CCS has been providing trauma-informed, wrap-around services to empower survivors as they heal and recover from trauma. CCS’ free services include a 24/7 confidential crisis hotline, four domestic violence shelters, counseling, legal services, safety planning, prevention education and more.
  • Lifeline Community Services is a community-based human services organization that serves low-income and underserved populations in San Diego County. Every year Lifeline serves more than 5,000 members of our community through clinically-strong and evidence-based programs that focus on positive youth development, child abuse prevention and domestic violence intervention, housing and self-sufficiency, behavioral health, and human trafficking victim and survivor services.
  • Palomar Forensic Health Services has recognized the need to partner with the community to help those who have been victims of violent crimes. The Forensic Health Services Department, consists of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and the Child Advocacy Center (CAC). This Department is located in San Marcos at One Safe Place Family Justice Center. Palomar Medical Center Poway hosts a second SART location.
  • San Diego City Attorney’s Office – A member of the Survivor Task Force, City Attorney Mara W. Elliott serves as chief legal advisor to the Mayor, City Council, and all City departments, and as the City’s prosecutor. Their office has programs to assist victims of domestic violence, trafficking, and hate crimes, just to name a few.

PFLAG San Diego, a national organization with a local chapter, offers support for families, friends, and allies of LGBTQ+ individuals.
