July is Anti-Boredom Month – Does Your Spirit Need a Spark?

Let’s Redefine What It Means to Be Still

Anti-Boredom Month is observed in the month of July. Why? Because the weeks after July 4th are the hottest and slowest of the summer.

But here’s where boredom can become awesome:
Boredom isn’t the enemy. Boredom isn’t laziness.

It’s often a signal that our spirit is craving connection, curiosity, or care.

And July, fittingly, as Anti-Boredom Month, is a soft nudge to tune back in.

This month, we’re inviting you to reclaim stillness with small sparks of curiosity, by:

  • Taking up a new hobby
  • Learning a new skill
  • Exploring your surroundings
  • Spending time with loved ones
  • Volunteering in your community
  • Reading books, blogs, or listening to podcasts

This doesn’t mean filling your calendar or pushing yourself to be “productive.”
It means inviting in something that sparks your presence.

✧ Boredom as a Portal

Sometimes boredom is your soul whispering:
“I need more aliveness.”
Not more hustle.
Not more scrolling.
Just something that makes you feel awake again.

Want something more gentle?

Here are a few gentle ways to respond:

🌿 5 Soft Anti-Boredom Practices

  1. Sit in Stillness (and See What Arrives)
Try five quiet minutes of meditation … or simply place a hand on your heart and ask, “What do I need right now?”
  2. Move in a Way That Feels Playful
Dance in your kitchen. Do three yoga poses. Stretch like a cat.
  3. Rediscover a Forgotten Hobby
Watercolors? Knitting? Rearranging your bookshelf by color?
  4. Pull a Card (or Let a Card Pull You)
Choose one from your favorite oracle deck (or mine, the Lunar Lotus Oracle Deck).
Ask: What is boredom trying to teach me today?
  5. Make a Small Offering to Joy
Light a candle. Open a window. Take a new route to the mailbox.

✨ From Numbness to Curiosity

Anti-Boredom Month isn’t about forcing excitement.
It’s about choosing to listen to the quiet tug beneath the numbness.
To say: “I’m willing to meet this moment differently.”

Even one small spark can change everything.

🌀 When Curiosity Feels Out of Reach

Sometimes boredom masks executive dysfunction, mental burnout, or nervous system shutdown. You are not lazy, your body and brain are doing their best.

Try pulling a card not to solve anything, but to reconnect.
