Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Rogers.

Hi Christina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
How many times have you felt unable to affect change in your life? Like nothing you did would get you closer to your goals?

Oftentimes we fall prey to the belief system that ‘we can’t.’ We lack the confidence to take the scary steps that will ultimately lead us to our desired lives, and so we don’t even try. This leaves us feeling alone, and uncared for.

At Lunar Lotus we have found that Collaboration is the best way to push away those ‘coulda woulda shouldas’ and replace them with opportunities for growth inside a safe environment.

Lunar Lotus began in 2016 with a retreat in the desert. We had a seemingly-simple idea of making a big impact, one event at a time, and then Covid threw everything for a loop.

People became isolated and needed safe places to go, to be seen and authentic, while also learning about themselves. So, in 2021 we re-vamped Lunar Lotus under the tenet of collaboration, where multiple community members could each offer their own skills and expertise.

Then I heard about a growing problem, from women in San Diego: After Covid had paused live events, sexual assault and domestic violence were getting worse by the month, and I felt powerless to stop it.

In the same spirit of Collaboration for Change, I reached out to experts in various fields to come together to help people take back the power in their lives. We host self-defense classes, and safety seminars, as well as the more spiritual type of workshops.

And through these last few months, I’ve learned what I really want to create in our business, is opportunities for others to cultivate/develop clarity, awareness, self-efficacy, agility/adaptability, and therefore (hopefully) confidence.

Everyone starts at a different spot, but I would hope that the people we get to work with will leave feeling a bit more empowered to take whatever next steps are in front of them.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve mostly found difficulty in two forms: 1. Reaching our target audience, and 2. Getting clients to make that bold move towards their own empowerment, by actually showing up for classes.

Some of this may be due to fear, monetary concerns, or a lack of clarity in what they want to achieve.

As you know, we’re big fans of Lunar Lotus Retreats. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Lunar Lotus offers specialized retreats/workshops with the intent to aid people in cultivating confidence and empowerment.

We offer both local workshops and destination retreats, surrounding multiple disciplines. By tailoring each program to focus on a specific part of the empowerment process, students get to experience an overall expansion.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
When I first started Lunar Lotus, I didn’t know much about how values pertain to a business. I just knew I wanted to help people feel safe, and the ability to be seen without fear.

I know that authenticity, vulnerability, impact, and belonging are all values that I want to offer as a person when I walk into a room. I have been learning over these last few months that I require those things to feel ‘confident,’ so they’re easy core values to identify for my personal path and how I want to show up for others.
